A) Your Score Must Total 100 Points For Expert Certification.

B) You must submit verifiable documentation that will be checked on each point system including the name, address and telephone number for verification. If you do NOT supply this information, your material will be returned incomplete which can then be resubmitted with an additional $50.00 fee.

C) You must submit a sample investigative report completed by you that relates to the area of expertise you are applying for. The investigative report must be approved as meeting an investigative industry standard before the certification is issued. It is permissible to censor any confidential names and/or address information, contact information or other such information in the report.


5 POINT FOR EACH YEAR OF EXPERIENCE
Your experience is defined as actual private investigative practice 50% of which must relate to the subject area of expertise you are applying for.

Degrees are defined as a college degree from a state approved and legitimate college or university or trade school.

10 POINTS FOR EACH NAIS CONFERENCE YOU HAVE ATTENDED

5 POINTS FOR OTHER INVESTIGATIVE CONFERENCE OR SEMINAR YOU HAVE ATTENDED
Other investigative conference or seminar is defined as an NAIS recognized private investigative training program including training presentations done at state and national investigative conventions.

35 POINTS FOR AUTHORING A BOOK OR MANUAL ON YOUR SPECIALIZATION
Book is defined as 40 pages or more and must relate to the area of
expertise you are applying for. A copy of the manuscript or published
work needs to accompany your application.

10 POINTS FOR EACH ARTICLE YOU HAVE WRITTEN
The article must relate to the area of expertise you are applying for. A copy of the article or article(s) must accompany your application.

15 POINTS FOR EACH VERBAL PRESENTATION YOU HAVE GIVEN
Verbal presentation must relate to the area of expertise you are applying for.

10 POINTS FOR TAKING ANY NAIS APPROVED COURSE

Must show proof of purchase. CMPI point is for missing persons expert status only. Bail Enforcement is for Bail Enforcement status only. Executive Protection is for bodyguarding of executive protection status only. The William C. Dear and Ed Pankau course points can be applied to any area.

10 POINTS FOR ANY OTHER APPROVED COURSE
Must be recognized by NAIS. Most legitimate courses are excepted including most legitimate correspondence courses.

25 POINTS FOR CERTIFICATION BY OTHER ORGANIZATION
The certification must relate to the area of expertise you are applying for and must be recognized and/or approved by NAIS. This includes CLI and ASIS certifications and others. If NAIS has not already approved the certification program you already have, we will look into it.

NOTE: In order to maintain your expert status, you must attend at least one investigative seminar or training conference per year that is approved or recognized by NAIS and/or one NAIS training conference every two years.
