When a text message is deleted from the SIM it is not always removed - in many cases the phone simply marks them as being 'deleted' until a newer message is received and saved over it. If this is the case, you will be able to recover any text message which hasn't yet been overwritten by a new incoming message.
Other special features include a permanent 'wipe' function for all text messages, ensuring that they cannot be recovered in this manner at a later date (useful if you are concerned about your own privacy), and the ability to recall the list of last dialed numbers stored in the SIM, even if they are not in the mobile's phonebook. Note that SIM cards will typically store between 10 and 40 texts, depending on the network provider and type of SIM (eg pre-pay or contract.) The messages displayed will be the last ones saved to the SIM, whether deleted or not. Success at retrieving deleted texts therefore varies depending on the phone type and the way in which you manage your texts. Best results are obtained from SIMs where texts are regularly deleted and where the phone has been set to store texts on the SIM.

Note also that if you lock your card with a SIM-based PIN (rather than the usual phone lock), you will have to know the PIN in order for PhoneFile PRO to access your data. However, PhoneFile PRO does provide a special function to reset the PIN to a new value, if you obtain the PUK (unlock) code from the network provider.
