MARTIN KANE, PRIVATE-EYE
1940'S TV PROGRAM NOW ON DVD
VOLUMES ONE AND TWO
THE VERY FIRST PRIVATE
INVESTIGATOR SHOW TO AIR ON TV
Here is your chance to own a collection of the very first TV program to
air about a private investigator, Martin Kane, Private-Eye! These TV shows
have been placed on DVD for your vintage enjoyment. They are highly entertaining,
highly historical and inexpensive.
Debuting in 1949, Martin Kane
was the first private eye show on TV. A tough, no nonsense detective who's
always in over his head, Kane's street smarts help him triumph in the
end. The show was sponsored by the United States Tobacco Company and filled
with vintage tobacco advertisements that were worked into its plot lines.
Kane and his pals are regulars at the tobacco shop run by Happy McMann,
played by Walter Kinsella, the only cast member to appear in all five
seasons. Kane smoked a pipe and every episode has him placing United States
Tobacco Company products in his pipe. He meets his associates in a tobacco
shop near his office in which United States Tobacco Company product posters
and advertising are on display. There are United States Tobacco Company
commercials at the start and end of each show but there are no breaks
in the half hour shows for commercials. This is the way advertising was
done in those days. You will cherish these old TV shows on DVD and find
the plots and acting very well done.
