Block Cell Phone 1970's 1980's There was a period of time that was not to long ago that if you had a cell phone, that was really something. Nick Beltrante had a perk in the 1970's that was given to him for taking on the job as director of security for the George McGovern For President campaign that included a working cell phone for his car. He had a cell phone number assigned to him. That was extremely rare for the time and he was about the only private investigator around with a cell phone. Cell phones used to be huge, heavy and bulky.
