First Generation CMP-700, 1980's
The first CMP-700's hit the market in the early 1980's. It quickly became
the most popular countermeasures sweep unit in the USA. While there has
always been low-end countermeasures gear for pretend types that put on
what's called dog and pony shows, the CPM-700 upgraded a lot of these
services into real countermeasures services. This unit is a first generation
CPM-700. In the early days, they were not black as they are today. It's
important to note that, through the years, there have been a number of
look-a-likes to come out, but nothing compares to the CPM-700 which is,
of course, still used today. The CPM-700 today is the most often talked
about and the most often used piece of countermeasures gear in the world.
There is now what can be termed an invisible dividing line between the
haves and the have-nots. If you use one, you are considered in the real
world of countermeasures services. If you don't use one, you fall below
that dividing line that separates the men from the boys and considered
a pretender in the field of countermeasures services.
