Elvis Presley Rare
Replica Sheriff's Badge 1960's
Elvis was made an honorary police officer in departments across the United
States. This police quality badge is a replica of the one presented to
him by the Shelby County Sheriff's Department; making Elvis an Honorary
Chief Deputy. The photo above was taken at his home with his friends all
showing their Shelby County Sheriff's Department badges.
If you ever have the chance
to go tour his home known as Graceland
(highly recommended!) In Memphis Tn.. Part of the tour in a building on
the back of his home is displayed Elvis's huge badge collection. Elvis
collected badges from all over after he was almost always made an honorary
officer.

On December 21, 1970, Elvis Presley paid a visit to President Richard
M. Nixon at the White House in Washington, D.C for the purpose of asking
to become a "Federal Agent-at-Large". What Elvis was likely
after was a federal badge issued in his name. Elvis, on a whim without
anyone knowing it, flew to Washington DC, checked into a hotel and had
a six page handwritten note delivered to the White House guard station.
