Johnny Dollar Radio Show, 1949
Before there was television, Americans listen to the radio which ran
dramatic radio shows. One of the most popular of those shows was Johnny
Dollar played by Charles Russell. Johnny Dollar was a freelance insurance
investigator who often worked for a company called Universal Adjustment
Bureau. Dollar had a healthy expense account and a penchant for throwing
money around. The series ran from Feb 11, 1949 to Sept 30,
1962. There were 432 episodes. It was the last of the dramatic radio
shows and it's closing production in 1962 ended the radio show drama
era.
